Look Book: Thrift and Drugstore Haul

This week has been so fun. I watched a different movie every night before bed (surprisingly they all took place in New York), and each day I did something different (thats a big change from the routine school days that happen all year).

The week was filled with things like sleep, karaoke, massages, shopping, eating, exercising (yes, I exercised), and more shopping.

I ended up going thrift shopping on Wednesday. I have never been good at thrift shopping ( I usually only find one thing I like if any), but this week I got lucky. I left the store with 6 tops (all pictured below), and a pair of athletic shorts that would normally cost around $30 but I got them for $2!

On a different day, I spent about an hour in CVS and bought some really great makeup products that I have had my eyes on. I have already used them!

anyways, enough explanations, here is my thrift and drugstore haul.

And this is me wearing my new eye products:

Life Update: Summer Countdown

Today was my last day of school!! The only stress related thing I have to deal with is the ACT's, but I'm taking them on Sunday and then thats over as well. I am so ready for summer to start, and there are so many things that I am looking forward to doing. Here is a little update on my summer, and a countdown for all the fun things I will be doing.

Countdown #1: Camera Lens

For a while I have had my eye on a new camera lens. I only have the standard lens that my camera came with, but I saved up to finally get a 50mm lens. I am totally in love with the idea of taking portraits, but I haven't had the right tools to do so. Hopefully I will be able to get my lens before I head off to New York. Which brings me to the next countdown.

Countdown #2: New York Internship

This summer is the first summer in seven years that I won't be spending at camp. It is kinda sad, but mostly really exciting because I have the amazing opportunity of interning in New York City!! I am working in Soho at Exposure NY, a photographer and stylist agency. I am mostly going to be working on the photography angle of it, but I'm not sure exactly what my job will be. I am going to be working for a month, and during that time I will be living with my Grandma in New Jersey. It is going to be really wonderful spending that much time with her, but that also means that a lot of my time will be spent commuting to the city and back. Overall, I am extremely excited to be spending my summer in New York, and I can't wait for the experiences that will come along with it.

Countdown #3: Book of Mormon

Since I will be in New York, it only seems right to see a show on broadway. As a kid I used to see musicals with my Grandma all the time, but I haven't seen many recently. I have heard so mush about Book of Mormon and basically begged my Grandma to take me to see it. I have been listening to one song from the show over and over again and I am so so so excited to finally see it!!

Countdown #4: Bermuda

After my internship is over, my Grandma and I are going on a cruise to Bermuda. I haven't been on cruise in years, but after my last year of middle school we decided that we would go on a cruise together. It has only taken us this long to actually find time to do this. But its happening, and I can't wait to take some tropical pictures after a month of photos from the city.

Countdown #5: My Birthday

Of course, I'm counting down to my birthday...8.16.1998

Countdown #6: Working at Aviary

Then when I finally return to Boston, in order to keep myself busy I am going to be working at my photography teacher's gallery 'Aviary'. I have worked their a bit before, but this year we are planning on doing a lot of exciting photo related things. Its gonna be a ton of fun!!

DIY: My Favorite Ideas Online

This week has been absolutely crazy. In school I have been taking tests and preparing for finals which is totally insane. I also have been staying late at school half the week, and then the other days I had either ACT tutoring or band practice. And on top of all that, I have been going to sleep later and later every night, and it is getting so hard to wake up in the morning. I haven't had a normal day in so long.

So life is pretty hectic, but what keeps me going is the fact that school will be over in exactly a week! I cannot wait to tell you guys about my summer plans and share every day with you.

In the meantime, I have been eyeing a ton of DIY projects perfect for the summer (especially since I will actually have time to do them), and I thought I would share them with you. If anybody ends up doing these, please let me know. You can post a comment below or reach me on any social media available. I would love to know if any of these are actually do-able!

Favorites: May (and dealing with stress)

May, along with everything else, is coming to a close. The end of May and beginning of June is one of the more stressful times of year. School work starts to pile up, summer plans need to be finalized, and the anxiety that comes with finishing one grade and moving on to the next is a lot to handle (especially if that next grade happens to be your senior year of high school...eeek!).

There are a lot things people do to keep their stress level from reaching its maximum, but for me its pretty simple. I just try to focus on each day as they come and pay attention to the positives.

Here are some of my favorite things from the month of May that kept me sane:

One
Do one fun thing at the end of every day as a reward for working hard. This doesn't mean procrastinating and doing that fun thing instead of homework, it should just keep you motivated. I started a new TV show from the mid 90's called 'My So-Called Life'. Its is a story about teen angst. The main character, Angela, is a 15-year-old girl who faces the trials and tribulations of being a teenager and dealing with friends, guys, parents and school. It is so good, and I love ending my day with Jordan Catalano ;)

Two
Pamper yourself. Sometimes taking a long hot bath with a soothing bath bomb is more than necessary. Maybe even wear an item of clothing or an extra makeup product to help boost your self confidence. Last week I took a much-needed bath with my Lush Cosmetics Twilight bath bomb, and I also bought a new Lip Balm just for fun.

Three
When you're hungry, eat. Have a small snack before or while you work to keep your mind off your stomach. When I get hungry I make myself a bowl of mixed Erewhon Organic Cereals (you can find the brand at Whole Foods). The brand makes all types of delicious healthy flavors; my favorites being Quinoa & Chia, Buckwheat & Hemp, and Crispy Brown Rice. Mixing them all together makes for a totally healthy and totally filling snack.
